Mind Over Matter: A Guide to Mental Health

Mental health is an important part of our overall wellbeing and it is essential that we make it a priority as mental health is an incredibly important topic in our current times. However, this topic is often overlooked in our society.

Mental Health

Mental health refers to an individual's emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing, and can also help determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

Mental health can be affected by various factors, such as life experiences, physical health, and even genetic predispositions. An individual can demonstrate signs of either good mental health or bad mental health.

Good Mental Health

Good mental health is essential for overall wellbeing and is characterized by a variety of symptoms. These include having a positive outlook on life, feeling connected to others, being able to manage stress and emotions, having healthy coping strategies, and being able to identify and express feelings.

Additionally, good mental health involves having a sense of purpose, being able to set and achieve goals, and having a sense of self-acceptance. Furthermore, good mental health involves having a healthy balance between work, leisure, and social activities.

Finally, good mental health is characterized by having good communication skills, being able to make decisions, and having a sense of humor. All of these signs point to a person having good mental health and being able to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

Bad or Poor Mental Health

On the other hand, signs of poor mental health can vary from person to person, but some common indicators include feeling overwhelmed, having difficulty concentrating,  or feeling sad or hopeless.

Other signs can include substance abuse, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts, withdrawing from activities and people, having difficulty sleeping, feeling irritable or anxious, having difficulty making decisions, and experiencing changes in appetite or weight.

A mental health professional should be consulted if you or someone you know is experiencing any of these symptoms.
